ESPN is reporting that the Astros and Ivan Rodriguez have agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.
It's about time the Astros stepped up to the plate. Perhaps they'll cut Brandon Backe later this spring to help pay for Pudge, who should get every opportunity to take over as the starting catcher. Humberto Quintero can back him up, with J.R. Towles returning to Triple-A and Rule-5 pick Lou Palmisano going back to the Brewers.
