사흘 쯤 전에
예전 내셔널스의 마무리로 활약했던 채드 코데로가 마리너스와 마이너계약을 맺었습니다.
Mariners signed RHP Chad Cordero to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
한편, 최근에 코데로는 35구의 불펜피칭을 소화했다고 하는군요.

최근 베네주엘라의 WBC 경기에서 베네주엘라의 현지 팬들이 자국 팀의 클린업으로 출전하는 오도녜즈에게 야유를 보낸 것이 화제가 되었는데
오도녜즈의 정치관 때문이라는군요.
현재 베네주엘라의 대통령인 Hugo Chavez의 대표적인 지지자 중 하나라는 이유 때문이고,
오도녜즈 스스로는 그의 정치관을 뒤집을 생각이 없다는 견해를 피력중인데...
Magglio Ordonez was booed unmercifully by his Venezuelan countrymen here during his country's 3-1 victory over the Netherlands. Ordonez said he's a target for his well-known support of Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, but the Detroit Tigers star also said he will not change his views or hide his support.
"No,'' Ordonez said when asked if he might tone down his support for the unpopular leader.
"He got elected by popular vote,'' Ordonez told SI.com. "If you don't like Chavez ... go vote.''
Ordonez also said that the booing only came from "a small percentage'' of his countrymen, those who support the other political party.
"It's not the reality of Venezuela,'' he said.

한편 퍼지는 말린즈로 가는 것을 희망한다는 기사를 본 적도 있습니다.
The Astros always made sense as a potential destination for Pudge Rodriguez. Finally, the team is showing some interest in the free-agent catcher.
It's not yet clear how serious the Astros' interest is.
The three catchers on Houston's major-league roster are a combined 8-for-47 (.170) this spring. With three hits tonight against Team USA, Rodriguez is 9-for-15 in the WBC. The Marlins also remain a potential Pudge destination. Guaranteed playing time has been an issue in talks with Florida, but it's possible that something could be worked out where Rodriguez would play some first base in addition to catching.

This makes a lot of sense for both sides. Cordero is a long shot to be
an above average reliever this season, but if he does make it back from
shoulder surgery, he should have a chance to contend for the closer's
role in Seattle. He won't be a candidate to begin the season on the
active roster.
